Epiduo Forte

Epiduo Acne Treatment FAQs

Looking for some quick answers? Check out these frequently asked questions.

Epiduo Gel is the only antibiotic-free topical acne treatment with a fixed dose combination of 0.1% adapalene and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. It comes in a convenient pump and helps clear up the breakouts you have now and helps prevent future pimples from forming. The two medicines have been proven to work better together than they do alone. Plus, having them together in a single treatment could mean fewer co-pays, more convenience and most of all, better results.
If you're 9 or older and your acne's not getting any better with your current routine, you're a good candidate for Epiduo Gel. But of course, you should always ask the medical experts. Ask your doctor (and your parents if you're 17 and under) if Epiduo Gel is right for you.
No, you can use it in the morning or evening, or as directed by your doctor. It's best to use it the same time every day to help you stay in the routine. It's important not to miss days, so Epiduo Gel can keep working.
Follow your doctor's instructions, but typically a pea-sized amount spread evenly across each affected area of your face is perfect. Using more won't speed things up, and it's not a good idea to spot-treat. Stick with the right amount and stay consistent.
Skipping a day of treatment can allow new pimples to begin forming beneath the skin's surface. So try to make Epiduo Gel part of your regular daily routine. If you miss a day, just start the next day with the same pea-sized amount you always use on each of the affected areas of your face and you'll be back on track.
When a pea-sized amount is used daily on each of the affected areas of your face, one prescription could last about 3 months.
If you have to be in the sun, always use sunscreen that won't clog your pores (the package might say “non-comedogenic”) and wear protective clothing over treated areas. Also avoid exposure to sunlight or sunlamps.
Keep it up every day, even when things are looking good. Remember, Epiduo Gel works below the surface to help prevent new breakouts from forming. Before you stop using your medication, make sure to talk with your doctor first.
Benzoyl peroxide is one of the two effective medicines in Epiduo Gel. It kills the bacteria that cause breakouts and helps prevent pimples from coming back.
Adapalene is a type of retinoid, and the other medicine in Epiduo Gel. It unclogs blocked pores, helping to stop pimples from forming under the skin's surface and decreasing the redness, swelling and inflammation associated with pimples.
Everyone's skin is different. Make sure you talk to your doctor to get the best advice and remember to follow your doctor’s instructions.
Yes, you can still wear makeup. Be sure to use non-comedogenic and oil-free products.
